2nd & 3rd disbursements

The case workers met Shakil yesterday, and met a much happier Shakil to disburse $486 to him! We were updated that he has managed to secure a room to stay in, and his brother who is currently working in Singapore is assisting him with the monthly room rental of $250 as Shakil’s brother is working. With his first disbursement of $330, Shakil has remitted the bulk of it home for his sister’s college fees so that she could resume school. Shakil told us that his younger sister aspires to be a lawyer to help those in need. Even in the most difficult times, Shakil is often reminded of the times that he was giving his time as a volunteer back home, and how he feels privileged to be able to give. Since then, Shakil’s relationship with his parents has also been reconciled. Health wise, Shakil’s acute back and spinal issues have also improved with the help of the weekly TMC sessions that he is attending diligently.
