Dear Donors, 

THANK YOU once again for helping us reach our $300,000 fundraising milestone! We’ll like to let you know that our migrant friends and dorm operators have been expressing their gratitude towards your generous donations. 

Till 19 April, we have utilised $8,229 to deliver 8,048 meals (of which 6,366 are sponsored) to 40 dormitories, and procured $79,044 of 84,308 dormitory supplies and essential items to dispatch to dormitories. With your support, we’ve indeed achieved a lot in the past 2 weeks. However, we’re only scratching the surface of a long battle. Our work to provide support for our migrant friends and dorm operators through COVID-19 does not end here.  

As you know, the Circuit Breaker has been extended. Here’s a rundown of what’s been happening. Since 21 April 2020, workers across all dormitories have been put on stay-home notice. Concerned that this would happen, the coalition has been preparing for the impact of such changes on the ground. This is why we increased our fundraising target from $300,000 to $1 million last week and ramped up our operations in the following ways:

• Secured essential items for dormitory operators in preparation for a lockdown.
• Paused all in-kind contributions and worked urgently towards a bulk procurement model.
• Obtained government approval to operate a warehouse and mobilise volunteers.
• Built a dedicated team to provide meals to factory-converted dormitories (FCDs).
• Provided dorm operators with mental health resources and learning / engagement programmes for their workers
• Explored new collaborations with organisations and tapped on the expertise of delivery / events management companies to operate more efficiently.

In time to come, our projected expenses will go towards the provision of items such as storable dry food, personal hygiene products, cleaning products and medical supplies. We are preparing these items for those who have limited to no access to these resources during the stay-home notice period. We expect the needs of our migrant friends to continuously evolve as the COVID-19 situation develops. Your donations will allow us to sustain the provision of the above services, in addition to any new initiatives we’ll require to address future needs.
