Imagine raising five children in a two-room rental flat with barely enough space to sleep, study, or store personal belongings. This is the reality for Mr. Lim and Mdm Lisa, a hardworking couple doing their best to provide for their children despite financial hardships.
The family of seven has been living in their small rental unit since 2020, after Mdm Lisa was assigned to the flat following her divorce. Though they were promised a transfer to a unit in the East to be closer to their children’s schools, they have been waiting for four years without progress. Every day, the children endure long commutes, further adding to their exhaustion.
Struggling with Space and Comfort
With Mr. Lim earning just $2,000 a month as a cleaner and Mdm Lisa staying home to care for their children, the family’s income covers only the most basic needs. They have neither the savings nor the resources to improve their living conditions.
Currently, the couple and their two youngest daughters sleep in the bedroom, while the boys share a queen-sized mattress in the living room. Privacy is almost nonexistent, and storage is a constant struggle—every family member’s belongings are crammed into a single closet. The poor ventilation and lack of adequate sleeping arrangements force some of the children to sleep on the floor to stay cool. This takes a toll on their rest, well-being, and ability to concentrate in school.
Why Your Support is Needed
The cramped and minimal living conditions are not just an inconvenience—they directly affect the family’s quality of life, health, and future opportunities. Without external support, they cannot afford to refurbish their space to create a more functional and comfortable home.
We aim to raise $5,105.01 to help the Lim family with essential renovations and furniture, including:
- Painting and repairs for a fresher, safer environment
- New beds and mattresses to provide restful sleep for all family members
- A sofa bed to maximize sleeping space
- A mirrored cabinet and open wardrobe to help with storage
- Kitchen shelving to organize their limited space
- A new door replacement for privacy and security
Be a Part of Their Story
With your generosity, we can transform this small, overcrowded flat into a home where every child has a space to study, sleep, and grow. No donation is too small—every contribution brings us one step closer to giving the Luo family the dignity and comfort they deserve.
