  1. Where will my donation to the RGS Class of ‘91 Empowering Women Fund go?

Your donation will go to Ray of Hope (ROH) beneficiaries: specifically, women in difficult circumstances. These include, but are not limited to, single mothers, caregivers of family members with special needs, the elderly, and girls in difficult circumstances who need support for their living expenses. Your donation will help to alleviate these women’s financial pressures and allow them to focus on their job, education or upskilling, or to make healthier life choices for themselves and their children.

  1. How does Ray of Hope select the beneficiaries of this RGS Class of ‘91 Empowering Women Fund?

Majority of Ray of Hope’s beneficiaries are referred to them by family service centres, social service organisations/agencies and community partners. Some beneficiaries contact ROH directly. Whichever the case, these individuals and their families often have no other means of financial or social support. Every beneficiary undergoes a stringent verification process by ROH caseworkers to ensure that their needs are legitimate.

Beneficiaries of this RGS Class of ‘91 Empowering Women Fund will be selected from ROH’s current pool of beneficiaries. They will be girls or women who require financial assistance to allow them to better focus on their job, education, on upskilling, or to make healthier life choices for themselves and their children.

  1. How does Ray of Hope decide on the amount of support the beneficiaries will receive from this RGS Class of ‘91 Empowering Women Fund?

If a beneficiary’s crowdfunding campaign has not reached its fundraising goal by her campaign’s closing date, the RGS Class of ’91 Empowering Women Fund can be used to top-up the donations, up to a maximum of $1,000 per campaign.

  1. Is my donation tax deductible?

No. Ray of Hope is a registered charity, not an Institution of Public Character (IPC). ROH does not issue tax deductible receipts.

  1. What happens when the RGS Class of ‘91 Empowering Women Fund is completely drawn down?

RGS Class of ‘91 is launching this Fund with the hope of generating support for underserved girls and women in our community. When this private crowdfunding campaign ends on 11 December 2021, it will be converted to a public crowdfunding campaign on Ray of Hope, the Empowering Women Giving Circle. The private campaign thus brings momentum and sustained support for the latter initiative that will extend beyond our cohort and the RGS alumnae.

  1. Will this campaign support green initiatives or animal welfare causes?

No. We chose this campaign in empowering women as an echo of how RGS has developed many of us over the years. We thought focusing on one cause would allow us to collectively make a bigger impact.

However, we know that there may be other causes that you may want to support. If you, your class or friends are interested to do so, you are most welcome to start a campaign and we can help to publicize it as part of our 30th year celebrations as a way of giving back. Just contact our RGS Class of ’91 Fundraising Committee (rgsew2021@gmail.com).

  1. Will donors be informed about which beneficiaries are supported by the RGS Class of ’91 Empowering Women Fund?

Yes. Donors will receive email updates when funds are disbursed to the beneficiaries. You can also read the beneficiaries’ stories on the campaign page.

  1. May I share this crowdfunding campaign with my friends and family?

Yes, please do! This Fund for Empowering Women will continue beyond our current crowdfunding drive, which ends on 11 December 2021. After that date, the campaign will be converted to a public crowdfunding campaign on Ray of Hope, the Empowering Women Giving Circle, thus creating additional momentum and sustained support for the latter initiative that will extend beyond our cohort and the RGS alumnae.

  1. Is there a minimum sum that I should donate?

No amount is too small. Every dollar counts and makes a difference to the beneficiaries.

  1. May I make an anonymous donation?

Yes, you may choose to be anonymous.

  1. May I donate more than once?

Yes, you may donate to the RGS Class of ’91 Empowering Women Fund as many times as you wish. No amount is too small. Every dollar counts and makes a difference to the beneficiaries.

  1. Does Ray of Hope accept credit cards issued overseas?

Yes. Do note that your credit card company might levy a charge to cover the exchange rate. Ray of Hope does not deduct credit card or transaction fees from your donation – 100% of your donation will go to the RGS Class of ’91 Empowering Women Fund and 100% will, in turn, go towards the beneficiaries.

  1. Do I choose specific beneficiaries to donate to?

No. The RGS Class of ‘91 Empowering Women Fund aims to support underserved girls and women in Singapore, by pooling our donations to create maximum awareness and impact.

Your donation will go to Ray of Hope beneficiaries: specifically, women in difficult circumstances.

  1. Is there a minimum sum each beneficiary is asking for? What happens when that target is not achieved?

Every beneficiary has an individual crowdfunding campaign with Ray of Hope. There is no minimum sum, only a campaign target/goal, calculated based on the beneficiary’s verified needs. If a beneficiary’s crowdfunding campaign has not reached its fundraising goal by her campaign’s closing date, the RGS Class of ’91 Empowering Women Fund can be used to top-up the donations, up to a maximum of $1,000 per campaign.

  1. How long will this campaign run for?

We hope it will run FOREVER!

This RGS Class of ‘91 Empowering Women Fund, a private crowdfunding campaign, ends on 11 December 2021. Thereafter it will be converted to a public crowdfunding campaign, the Empowering Women Giving Circle, thus creating additional momentum and sustained support for the latter initiative that will extend beyond our cohort and the RGS alumnae.

16     Would I be able to use the Ray of Hope platform to run other crowdfunding projects connected to the 30th anniversary of our RGS Class of ’91?

Sure, if you are interested in starting other campaigns, please contact Ray of Hope at info@rayofhope.sg (for campaigns with a human focus) or the RGS Class of ’91 Fundraising Committee at rgsew2021@gmail.com for other campaigns, such as green and recycling projects, etc.
