2nd disbursement

The case workers visited Mdm Halijah last week for her cheque disbursement. We were updated that her appeal for public assistance was rejected once again. This leaves the 67-year-old helpless about the situation as she is unable to cope with her monthly living and transport expenses, especially on months that she is required to visit the hospital a few times a month. On days when she is feeling well, she spends her days cleaning her house and does ad-hoc food orders to earn some side income. However, her legs feel weak on most days and this affects her walking as she is unable to stand for long or walk long distances and often relies on her neighbours to buy her meals for her. When relating her situation to us, Mdm Halijah confided in us that she often misses the days when she was able to walk unaided and cook for her family as she has always enjoyed doing so. The case workers hope to provide Mdm Halijah some encouragement each time they visit her!
