Hi there!
My name is Kenneth. Below are details of my story.
Background
“Finding moments of grace at the intersection of idealism and intentionality. That’s what we strive for with each social issue we encounter.”
Having spent time visiting missionaries for the last 10 years, Kenneth learnt that many problems faced might not be adequately addressed with simple one-dimensional solutions. As such, the common model of having short term mission trips often do not lead to lasting and sustained impact. In 2018, Kenneth has started a 100% for social impact organisation called Solve n+1.
THE NEHEMIAH EQUATION
When Nehemiah first received news that his people, the Jews, who had returned to Jerusalem after decades of exile in Babylon, were living in great trouble and disgrace because the city’s walls lay in ruins, he wept, fasted and prayed (Nehemiah 1:1-4). He was serving in the Persian city of Susa when this happened. He then received permission from the king to visit Jerusalem, begin the structuring of the project and later on facilitate the rebuilding of the walls. He also addressed the other concerns of the people, from cultural matters to even poverty.
Many of the issues I encounter today are unique and multifaceted. They require far more thought, prayer and collaboration not just for sustainability but deliberate efforts to ensure posterity and impact.
Inspired by the story of Nehemiah, I felt the call to partner the ones serving local communities to solve greater issues at hand: “n+1”. The goal: building resilient and thriving communities through micro-initiatives.
Who are we?
Solven+1 is a 100% for-impact organization birthed to represent and strengthen communities. We strive to be enabler of systemic change by taking on challenging problems and leveraging the multi-disciplinary expertise and resources of our partners and network.
Fund raising target amount: S$10,000
