In May 2021, when the COVID-19 cluster hit our hospitals, our members from our autoimmune diseases support group sprang into action by creating a self-care journal specially for our healthcare community. The self-care prompts cover various aspects of life from psychological, emotional to even physical aspects. The journal is also filled with encouragement drawings from people of diverse ages and abilities, such as preschoolers, children from mainstream and special education schools, patients, healthcare staff, artists and our seniors. To date, we have distributed about 19,000 self-care journals to various healthcare institutions. Out of these 19,000 copies, 12,000 were distributed to the entire healthcare staff of TTSH and NCID, with the support of various funders.
Feedback from healthcare staff who received these journals:
“Thank you so much. It’s very useful for us to pen our thoughts during the challenging times.”
“By writing our thoughts, feelings and reflections, it’s just so uplifting, affirming ourselves that caring is so important to others and also to ourselves.”
We were also featured in Straits Times Causes Week 2021 for this initiative.
We seek your support for us to distribute 800 more self-care journals to other healthcare institutions that have not received our self-care journals such as polyclinics, public health preparedness clinics or any other healthcare settings. Each distribution will be updated through ROH.
The funds will go to supporting the cost of printing, handling, packing and distributing 800 self-care journals to healthcare staff.

In such trying times, my heart goes out to workers in the healthcare industry who bears the weight of the healthcare of our people. It is a very stressful time and I am happy I can give back to them. May these lovely journals help ease their stress and lighten their moods.
