66-year old Mr Faruk suffers from diabetes and cataract. Due to his medical conditions, his vision was impaired and he had to undergo amputation on his toe last year. As Mr Faruk is not receiving help financially, he often skips his medical appointment as the hospital is too far and transport fees can be too expensive for him. 

Ray of Hope would like to raise $1,200 ($200 x 6 months) to help Mr Faruk with his living expenses and transportation. 

Mr Faruk lives in a two-room rental flat. Previously, he worked as a stall cook earning $2,000 per month for around 20 years. However, he had to stop working when his health deteriorated recently.

In 2017, Mr Faruk was diagnosed with diabetes and recently had to amputate his toe due to an infection. After his surgery, Mr Faruk finds it hard to head outside to socialize due to his difficulty in walking. In addition, Mr Faruk also suffers from cataract on his left eye causing his vision to be impaired.

Mr Faruk’s children are also currently not living with him and they are not supporting him financially. Sharing with our caseworkers, Mr Faruk is very worried about his finances as he is now not receiving any social assistance. His monthly CPF payout is insufficient for his daily necessities and his savings have been depleting. Our case workers are working closely with Mr Faruk to refer him to relevant organizations that may assist him on a longer term basis. In the meantime, he is in need of assistance while his other assistance are pending.
