Ray of Hope is raising $3,000 ($250 x 12 months) to support 73-year-old Mdm Liang. This campaign will allow Mdm Liang to explore long-term housing and healthcare options.

Her swollen ankles, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and weak kidney have caused her to be confined mainly to her room and only go out for medical appointments. Since her husband’s passing in 2018, Mdm Liang has resorted to relying on her friends and neighbours as she finds difficulty doing daily tasks, such as purchasing groceries, due to an untreated injury from a fall.

Mdm Liang understands that there are cheaper housing options (i.e. HDB public rental flats). However, since Mdm Liang is without familial assistance, she is reluctant to move as she has established a reliable support system in her community. “The support from my old friends and neighbours has kept me going throughout the years”, Mdm Liang shares.

Over the years, Mdm Liang has sought financial help from other social service agencies. But unfortunately, her applications were rejected as she receives payouts from her CPF account and the Silver Support Scheme. However, the amount she receives is insufficient for her daily needs, including medication for pain management.
