“I hope that you (Ray of Hope) can help my mother instead. She was working as a childcare attendant, but was retrenched in March 2021.”, Jaga told the caseworkers when they met him.
The 29-year-old was staying with his mum in their one-room rental flat. He also had stable employment at Grab’s headquarters. Unfortunately, a wrong move that he made landed him in a state of regret and guilt towards his family, including his mum.
While Jaga is serving his time at the halfway house, he has attended some interviews in hopes of gaining employment. He is slated to start his employment as a technician with a $2,000 gross income any time soon. However, he is worried about the family’s finances as it would take some time for his employment to be stabilised, before he can start contributing to the family.
Ray of Hope wishes to raise $2,100 ($700 x 3 months) to support Jaga’s mum while she seeks employment. The financial aid will help them with their rent ($200), groceries and other household expenses ($500). Â
*Jaga is not receiving social assistance.
