What happened to Tina?

Tina, a 23-year-old single mother, has overcome numerous challenges, including parental separation, financial struggles, and coming out of an abusive relationship, to provide for her 18-month-old daughter. With the support of The New Charis Mission’s ‘Project Heart of Love’, Tina, her mother and her daughter can improve their living conditions and find stability. However, Tina still faces financial strain as she seeks full-time employment to support her family, with bills piling up and necessities to cover.

Tina’s rough start

Raised in a challenging environment marked by parental separation and financial struggles, Tina has been a pillar of strength for her mother since a young age. Despite being verbally and physically abused by her father from the age of 6, Tina works tirelessly to support her mother through health challenges while balancing part-time work and her education. However, life threw more curveballs her way, leading to disruptions in her studies and a tumultuous relationship that left her battered. Wanting a different childhood for her daughter than the one she experienced, she bravely left the relationship even though she was heavily pregnant.

The struggle continues

Over the past 18 months, Tina has faced considerable difficulties while residing in a cramped one-room rental apartment with her mother and toddler. The confined space is cluttered with accumulated possessions from years of hardship. This traces back to her parents’ divorce which left her mother struggling to cope without a stable home or financial assistance. This led to a lifelong habit of saving anything deemed useful, despite the resulting challenges in their living environment. Tina’s toddler frequently falls ill, due in part to health issues and in part to inadequate living conditions. Despite enrolling her daughter in childcare, Tina’s employment is often disrupted by her child’s frequent illnesses, limiting her ability to work consistently.

Now, with the support of ‘Project Heart of Love’, the family has the opportunity to transform their small rental flat into a more comfortable and conducive living space. This project offers them a chance for stability and a fresh start. However, Tina still faces financial strain as she strives to secure full-time employment. With bills mounting and the need to provide for her family, she is in urgent need of assistance to cover necessities.
