Flourishing is a 12-month initiative (September 2024 to August 2025) that uses interactive workshops to create transformative conversations about mental health.
The primary goal is to help young people (aged 17 to 21) struggling with their mental health develop
self-awareness and confidence to manage their well-being. The program also aims to involve young people in co-producing a new workshop series to start meaningful conversations about mental health with their parents or teachers, fostering a more supportive ecosystem.
The programme targets 40 young people for the initial workshops and hopes to select 5 of them to co-produce a new series for 40 participants consisting of parents and educators.
In total, the program aims to engage 80 unique participants through these interconnected workshops. The workshops’ objectives are to:
1) Enhance self-awareness in young people struggling with mental health issues.
2) Involve young people in engaging trusted adults in their lives when it comes to mental
health issues.
3) Build a more supportive environment for young people by empowering parents and teachers to support their mental health issues.
A unique aspect of the initiative is its collaborative approach, engaging both youths and trusted adults in a group setting. Few mental health interventions currently do this. The workshops are designed to be relevant and relatable by incorporating the lived experiences of those who have flourished despite mental health challenges, instilling hope and empowering participants to make a difference for themselves and others.
