Jakirul is a dedicated migrant worker who came to Singapore with dreams of providing a better life for his family. With just 1.5 months on the job, he was determined to save money to support his wife, who is expecting their second child. However, his hopes took a devastating turn when he experienced an unfortunate accident on June 15, 2024.

An Unfortunate Workplace Accident

While working, Jakirul faced a precarious situation. As he attempted to place a concrete slab against the wall by himself, he noticed cracks within it. Despite his best efforts to adhere to safety precautions, including wearing a safety helmet, the slab fell towards him. This incident left him not only physically injured but also grappling with the challenges of recovery.

Currently on medical leave and awaiting an assessment from the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), Jakirul is focused on recuperating at his dormitory. He spends his time resting, attending prayers at a nearby mosque, and doing his best to stay positive. Although he would love to explore Singapore, he rarely ventures out for leisure, prioritising his financial situation and the need to save money for his family.

Facing Ongoing Health Challenges

Despite the passage of time, Jakirul continues to experience episodes of dizziness, headaches, and vomiting, which have taken a toll on his well-being. His medical leave coverage ended on September 26, 2024, leaving him anxious about his financial future and the ability to support his growing family.

How You Can Help Support Jakirul’s Recovery

Ray of Hope is raising $1,800 ($300/month) to provide Jakirul with living expenses. This assistance will offer him the stability he needs while he focuses on healing and preparing for the arrival of his new child.

With your support, Jakirul can find peace of mind during this challenging time, allowing him to concentrate on his recovery and his family’s future. Together, we can empower him to rise above this setback and continue his journey toward a brighter tomorrow.
