2025: Single Parent Hope Circle
Single parents carry the entire family load alone, and in some cases, this happens overnight. One day they have a partner, the next they are both breadwinner and caregiver. Suddenly, two incomes become one, and the scramble to make ends meet begins. Without a partner’s help, their safety net is fragile. A single crisis like a doctor’s visit, job loss, or unexpected bill can shatter their stability and leave the family with nowhere to turn.
These are the moments where support matters most.
The Single Parent Hope Circle (SPHC) was created to offer stable ground. It started because donors believed no parent should have to sacrifice one essential need to cover another. SPHC steps in when a single parent is at risk of losing their footing and helping families stay hopeful through circumstances beyond their control.
The Parents We Stand For
Hajar
When her husband walked out without warning, Hajar was left to raise 3 young children on her own. Overnight, she became both caregiver and provider, with her son Adam needing early intervention for autism support, and her daughter Fatiha unable to continue English Support Classes because of cost. Despite the strain, Hajar is determined to keep her children safe and learning.
Mohinder
Mohinder carries the weight of unimaginable loss. In 2017, his wife died by suicide, taking their youngest children with her. Since then, he has battled PTSD and separation from his surviving sons, now 15 and 17, who remain in Indonesia because he cannot afford to bring them to Singapore. Despite being a part from his sons, he sends part of his SSO assistance to cover his children’s living expenses.
What is a Hope Circle?
A Hope Circle is a pooled, perpetual giving fund for a specific need. When an individual campaign falls short of its crowdfunding goal, or when emergencies arise, the Circle is used to bridge the gap. For single parents, this means they don’t have to choose between paying the rent, putting food on the table, or taking their child to the doctor — the Circle steps in so families can stay secure through life’s hardest moments.
Through the Single Parent Hope Circle, S$100,000 will go directly to these parents, with a 10% uplift added to ensure our case team can properly verify and follow up on any top-ups from the Circle. This balance means we can act quickly while keeping every donation accountable and transparent.
Who We Serve
Ray of Hope serves anyone who works, studies or lives in Singapore regardless of nationality and citizenship status:
🟠Primary Group: Singaporeans from low-income families facing sudden hardship such as illness, injury and sudden unemployment, or caregiving responsibilities.
🟠Extended Support: Vulnerable groups living within our community who face unique barriers to traditional aid, such as migrant brothers, stateless individuals, and foreign spouses/children in crisis.
Our 3 Pillars
🟠Crowdfunding:
Campaigns that provide financial assistance to families and individuals in crisis, as well as community-based campaigns that align with Community Impact’s focus on emerging and unmet needs.
🟠Casework:
Every campaign whether for an individual or a community initiative is verified by our case or partnerships team, respectively. Ensuring accountability and dignity at every stage.
🟠Community Building:
Working alongside corporates, NGOs, ground-up groups and government agencies to mobilise resources, co-design initiatives, and extend help to groups excluded from conventional support. These partnerships allow us to amplify impact and address gaps more holistically.
Amplifying Impact
Funds raised through this campaign will be matched by Tote Board’s Enhanced Fundraising Scheme (EFR), which will amplify the impact of your contribution. The matched funds will enable Ray of Hope to continue verifying and supporting cases, ensuring that every campaign on our platform is genuine. This is what makes it possible for donations to reach those who need it most.
Ray of Hope does not replace existing aid. Instead, we step in to bridge urgent gaps where conventional systems may fall short. We work closely with social service agencies and government partners so our efforts complement, rather than duplicate, existing schemes.
Your gift, no matter the size, has the power to transform someone’s future. Together, we can build a community where every parent can keep their family safe and together.
Be the change. Give Hope Today.
