A Mother Trying to Hold Life Together
When people meet Mdm Chris, they often notice how calm and gentle she seems. But behind her quiet strength is a mother carrying a very heavy load. She is raising her toddler on her own while managing ongoing legal matters that have taken a significant emotional and physical toll on her. Because of this, she is currently unable to work, and without income, meeting even basic needs has become deeply challenging.
Before her circumstances changed, she worked hard to support herself. She held multiple employment at one point and pushed herself to keep going for as long as she could. Today, her most urgent concern is securing a stable place for her and her daughter to live.
The rent for her current housing is higher than typical, but it was not a choice made lightly. She had to move in haste during a period of distress, and at that time, the priority was simple: put safe distance between herself and the situation, and secure a unit with controlled access so she and her daughter could feel protected. It was the only feasible arrangement she could secure immediately after giving birth.
Her rent of $1,800 a month is far beyond what she can manage without employment, placing them at risk of losing the safety and consistency they rely on.
Doing Her Best While Navigating Uncertainty
Despite how overwhelming the situation has been, Mdm Chris continues to show resilience day after day. She attends all necessary appointments, stays engaged with the legal process, and manages her limited resources with careful discipline. She tries to keep her daughter’s daily life as stable as possible, even when she herself feels stretched and exhausted.
What makes things harder is that she has very little family support nearby. Most of her loved ones are not in a position to assist her directly, and she has had to navigate much of this journey on her own. Still, she has reached out where she can and remains committed to doing everything within her means to rebuild some sense of stability.
Even on days when she feels discouraged or alone, she continues to move forward — not because things are easy, but because she refuses to give up on giving her daughter a better life.
Her Hope: A Safe Home and a Gentle Restart
Through every difficulty, her daughter remains her greatest source of strength. She is the reason she keeps showing up for every appointment and the reason she fights through exhaustion. “I have a dream and I want to bring my daughter for a holiday so that she can live in a healthy environment,” she shared.
For now, the most important step is securing stable housing. Without a safe place to settle in, it is almost impossible for her to heal, rebuild emotionally, or prepare to return to work when she is ready. A stable environment is the foundation she needs to regain her footing and slowly rebuild a life that feels safe again.
Ray of Hope is raising $10,800 (6 months of rent at $1,800) to ensure this mother and her child can stay in a secure home during this difficult period.
Your support can give her the stability she has been fighting so hard to find — and the chance to begin again.
