Supporting a Family Through Caregiving Strain
Mdm Reshmi never expected that, as the sole breadwinner, she would be carrying so much on her own. In November 2025, she made the difficult decision to leave her job so she could care full-time for her husband and their children. Since then, the family has been living with no income and no savings. Each day has become a careful balance between caregiving, survival, and emotional resilience.
Her husband is currently facing significant mental health challenges and has sustained serious injuries that have left him wheelchair-bound. He is struggling to come to terms with these changes, and there is still no clear recovery plan in place. The emotional strain on the family has been immense, especially as Reshmi shoulders the responsibility of caregiving largely on her own.
She is now caring for her husband while raising her children in their small rental flat. The household includes children from previous relationships as well as her youngest child from her current marriage, who is just 1.5 years old. With her helper away on home leave until January 2026, she is managing caregiving, parenting, and household responsibilities largely on her own.
Doing Everything Possible, Yet Still Falling Short
Despite her strength, the challenges she faces are overwhelming. Without any income, she struggles to afford even the most basic necessities. There are days when buying milk powder and diapers for her youngest child feels uncertain. Each expense must be weighed carefully, knowing there is no safety net to fall back on.
Still, she continues to do whatever she can to stretch what little they have. The family cooks all their meals at home and avoids any unnecessary spending. There are no small luxuries, only constant trade-offs. What keeps her going is her love and sense of responsibility towards her children. They are her reason to wake up each morning and keep trying, even when the days feel unbearably long.
How You Can Help
This campaign seeks to raise $4092 ($682 per month for 6 months) to help meet the family’s most basic daily needs. With timely financial support, Reshmi will be able to put consistent meals on the table and ensure that her youngest child receives essential milk powder and diapers, which are critical at this stage of development.
The funds raised will be used for monthly groceries ($600), milk powder ($37), and diapers ($45) for the youngest child. This support will provide immediate relief and help stabilize the family’s living situation, allowing Reshmi to focus on caregiving while ensuring her children’s nutritional and daily needs are met.
At present, the family receives no help from extended relatives, and her SSO application is still pending. Without immediate assistance, the family risks further hardship and instability. Your support can provide breathing room during a time when she has none, allowing her to focus on caregiving without the constant fear of running out of essentials.
