A Home Filled With Love and Responsibility

Siti and her husband are raising six children together. Four of their children have special needs, and their youngest child requires intensive care.

Most of Siti’s day revolves around caregiving. From managing appointments and daily routines to ensuring each child receives the support they need, her time and energy are devoted to her family.

Her husband is the sole breadwinner, earning about $1,740 a month to support their household of eight. While he works hard to provide for the family, the income is often stretched across daily expenses, caregiving responsibilities, household bills, and the needs of six growing children.

Through it all, Siti remains grateful for her family.

“Everyone has issues, for me, whatever that comes, hard or easy, is just a test,” she shares.

Even during difficult periods, she makes an effort to create happy memories with her children. Whenever circumstances allow, she brings them out for simple activities and family outings.

“I only want the best for my children,” she says.

Managing One Day at a Time

The family has faced financial difficulties for several years. They previously accumulated utility and conservancy arrears while trying to balance their household expenses. Through careful effort, they have managed to clear their electricity arrears and continue to repay their outstanding town council charges through monthly instalments.

Although these repayments are important, they leave even less room in the family’s budget for daily necessities.

With six children at home, including four with special needs and a youngest child requiring intensive care, household expenses add up quickly. Groceries, transportation, school-related needs, and caregiving costs remain ongoing concerns each month.

Like many parents, Siti worries about whether she can continue meeting her family’s needs while managing the demands of caregiving.

Turning a Passion Into Income

Cooking has always been one of Siti’s greatest passions. She has loved preparing food since she was 15 years old and has spent years using that skill to contribute to her family’s finances whenever possible.

During festive periods such as Hari Raya, she takes orders and prepares food from home to earn extra income. More recently, her daughter has begun baking and selling baked goods as well, reflecting the family’s determination to do what they can to support one another.

Siti also has access to a hawker stall near her home. She hopes to operate it more consistently and gradually build a steadier source of income for the family. However, an outstanding SP Services bill of $901 has made it difficult for her to move forward.

As someone who believes strongly in being independent and self-reliant, seeking help has not come easily.

“I hope with public help, it can lessen my burden and support me to stabilise the family finances,” she says.

How Your Support Will Help

We are seeking support of $3,971.27 to cover:

• Groceries and household essentials: $1,500 per month for 2 months
• Outstanding water bill for hawker stall: $901.05

An emergency disbursement of $750 was provided in advance due to an urgent financial emergency faced by the family, enabling them to address their immediate needs and cope during a particularly difficult period.

The continued support will help ease the family’s ongoing financial pressures and allow Siti and her husband to focus on caring for their six children without the constant worry of meeting basic daily needs. It will provide some breathing room as Siti works towards stabilising her hawker business and supports her husband in bringing additional income into the household.

Every contribution will make a meaningful difference, helping the family maintain access to essential necessities while they work towards greater financial stability and a more secure future for their children.
