Mr Tan, 45, has chronic health issues at a relatively young age. Although he is keen to work and is medically fit for work, he has had trouble securing and sustaining employment. He uses an umbrella to support him as he walks slowly, and was recently cut from a job for being too slow.

Mr Tan was diagnosed with Kidney Failure in October 2018. He now attends dialysis 3 times a week. He also suffers from diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol. He currently received SSO support of $450 a month, but that is not enough for his daily needs. He scrimps on meals to make it through a month.
