Guilt of a Grandmother
Mdm Katijah works as a Bus Attendant and earns S$800 nett a month. With her salary, she is unable to fully support and feed her two grandchildren. To make matters worse, her daughter constantly pressurises her for money. She feels guilty when her grandchildren eat instant noodles on most days, but she can’t help it as with her salary, money is tight.
“I always tell my grandchildren that they cannot be picky. Even if they have to fry an egg and eat with plain rice, that is all that I can afford”- Mdm Katijah informs us with tears in her eye.
