Be the first to donate to 2025: Migrant Worker Hope Circle

Migrant Workers leave their families behind to work in Singapore, often taking on long hours in difficult jobs. But when an accident happens, wages are withheld, or employment ends suddenly, many find themselves with no support system here. Without access to subsidies or a support system, event essentials like food, rent, or medical bills can become impossible to manage.

The Migrant Worker Hope Circle was created for these moment. Recognising this gap, the fund ensures that help is available when a migrant worker’s situation becomes critical. Today, it continues as a perpetual fund, stepping in so that no one has to go without basic dignity in times of need.

The Migrant Workers We Stand For

Gina
In 2019, Gina came to Singapore to work. Over the past 6 years, she has worked for the same family caring for 3 children and her employer, who is a stroke survivor. Earlier this year, Gina faced a sudden health emergency when she suffered a ruptured ectopic pregnancy.  The family she works for, a pastor’s household with modest means, rallied around her but they could not shoulder the heavy medical costs. Her circumstances reflect the unseen struggles many mgirant workers face while giving so much of themselves far from home.

Alam
When Alam arrived in Singapore in 2007, it was wit hope of giving his wife and 5 children in Bangladesh a better life. But in August 2024, his salary stopped. By February 2025, he was unable to work at all after the Ministry of Manpower began investigating his employer for a workplace injury claim and an alleged attempt to abandon him in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Now stuck in Singapore while his case is ongoing, Alam survives in a dormitory where meals and accommodation are provided. But with no income, he has nothing for his own daily needs, and his family back home is left struggling without support.

What is a Hope Circle?

A Hope Circle is a pooled, perpetual giving fund for a specific need. When an individual campaign falls short of its crowdfunding goal, or when emergencies arise, the Circle is used to bridge the gap. For migrant workers, it means timely help — so urgent needs don’t go unmet simply because aid didn’t arrive fast enough.

Through the Migrant Worker Hope Circle, S$100,000 will go directly to these migrant workers, with a 10% uplift added to ensure our case team can properly verify and follow up on any top-ups from the Circle. This balance means we can act quickly while keeping every donation accountable and transparent.

Who We Serve

Ray of Hope serves anyone who works, studies or lives in Singapore regardless of nationality and citizenship status:

🟠 Primary Group: Singaporeans from low-income families facing sudden hardship such as illness, injury and sudden unemployment, or caregiving responsibilities.

🟠 Extended Support: Vulnerable groups living within our community who face unique barriers to traditional aid, such as migrant brothers, stateless individuals, and foreign spouses/children in crisis.

Our 3 Pillars

🟠 Crowdfunding:
Campaigns that provide financial assistance to families and individuals in crisis, as well as community-based campaigns that align with Community Impact’s focus on emerging and unmet needs.

🟠 Casework:
Every campaign whether for an individual or a community initiative is verified by our case or partnerships team, respectively. Ensuring accountability and dignity at every stage.

🟠 Community Building:
Working alongside corporates, NGOs, ground-up groups and government agencies to mobilise resources, co-design initiatives, and extend help to groups excluded from conventional support. These partnerships allow us to amplify impact and address gaps more holistically.

Amplifying Impact

Funds raised through this campaign will be matched by Tote Board’s Enhanced Fundraising Scheme (EFR), which will amplify the impact of your contribution. The matched funds will enable Ray of Hope to continue verifying and supporting cases, ensuring that every campaign on our platform is genuine. This is what makes it possible for donations to reach those who need it most.

Ray of Hope does not replace existing aid. Instead, we step in to bridge urgent gaps where conventional systems may fall short. We work closely with social service agencies and government partners so our efforts complement, rather than duplicate, existing schemes.

Your gift, no matter the size, has the power to transform someone’s future. Together, we can make sure migrant brothers are not left behind, but cared for as part of the community they help build every day.

Be the change. Give Hope Today.
