A Ray of Hope for Alice, Alex and Their Little Girls
Meet This Loving Family
In a small 2-room rental flat lives a family whose strength and love for each other shines through their challenges. Alice and Alex are devoted parents to two bright-eyed girls, 8-year-old Celene who loves drawing, and 5-year-old Isra, a sweet child with autism who communicates through her own special way. Though not verbal, Isra’s smile lights up the room when her family surrounds her with love.
Each morning, Alice helps Isra prepare for her Early Intervention Programme, cherishing these quiet moments together while they continue searching for the perfect Special Education school where she can thrive. These precious morning rituals mean everything to Alice, especially on days when getting out of bed feels like climbing an insurmountable mountain.
A Journey of Healing
Alice carries invisible wounds from her past. Years in a relationship where love was replaced with hurt left her struggling with trichotilomania (a form of OCD) and major depressive disorder. Some days, the weight of these feelings keeps her indoors, unable to face the outside world. On these difficult days, Alex stays home, holding her hand while helping with the girls – his quiet strength becoming the family’s foundation.
“Before all this, I could take care of myself since I was a teenager,” Alice shares softly. “Now, not being able to care for my children on my hardest days breaks my heart.” Yet in her eyes, there’s a flicker of determination. She attends every doctor’s appointment and therapy session, holding onto a dream of one day baking beautiful cakes from home to help support her family.
Little Comforts, Big Differences
Their home is modest but filled with love. However, several everyday items that most of us take for granted have broken down – their rice cooker that once made Celene’s favorite meals, the wardrobe where the girls’ clothes were neatly organised, and the water heater that provided warm baths on cold evenings.
Alex works whenever he can, his love for his family evident in the way he stretches every dollar. But with transportation costs to work, milk and diapers for Isra, and basic necessities, they often find themselves choosing between equally important needs.
Every two months, the family faces the anxiety of reapplying for social assistance that covers their rent and utilities. “The waiting is the hardest part,” Alice whispers. “Never knowing if we’ll have enough for next month.”

- A wardrobe ($300) to store the children’s belongings
- A water dispenser ($140) for clean drinking water
- Supporting Alex as he provides for his family:
- Transportation to work for 2 months ($128)
- Meals during work days for 2 months ($300)
- Care for little Isra:
- Milk, diapers, and essentials for 6 months ($250)
The Ripples of Your Kindness
Your support won’t just replace broken appliances or provide necessities – it will give this family breathing room to heal and grow together. When Alice speaks of someday taking a 12-week baking course, her voice softens with hope – a dream that could allow her to work from home while caring for her girls.
We’ve also connected Alice with counselling services and arranged for free prescription glasses, small steps that bring her closer to reclaiming her strength.
