When Alycia’s husband’s nose started to bleed, she did not think their life was going to change. Her worst fears came through when he was diagnosed with Stage 4A Nose Cancer. He’s been on hospitalisation leave ever since and soon will be put on unpaid leave. 

Alycia’s income as a preschool centre administration can only provide so much for her husband and 5 year old son. With mortgages and medical bills to pay, debts are piling up and she’s worried about her husband’s health. 

Ray of Hope would like to raise $4,020 ($670 x 6 months) to defray the daily expenses for Alycia’s family. 

Before Alycia’s husband was diagnosed with Stage 4A Nose Cancer in October 2021, the couple was earning a combined income of approximately $3,800.  Her husband was working as a warehouse assistant while Alycia worked as an preschool center administrator. With their combined incomes, the couple were coping well financially prior to her husband falling sick. 

Alycia’s husband now goes to his chemotherapy and daily radiation treatments diligently as he hopes to recover as soon as possible. Amidst their daily struggles, the side effects of his treatments have left Alycia more worried than ever. Her husband has been experiencing fatigue, loss of appetite and ulcers, among many other side effects. 

“I am in despair because he has to go for treatment alone. I want to be there for him but I have to continue working to support my family,” shared Alycia. 

As Alycia’s husband has not been working since October 2021, he is worried that his contract will be terminated. Recently, his doctor has allowed him to proceed with light duty at work. However, due to the nature of his work, he might not be allowed to resume employment soon. With their medical bills piling up, the couple is worried on how to sustain themselves for the next few months.
