What happened to Mdm Ashfyni?
Caring for a family goes beyond merely putting a roof over her children’s heads – Mdm Ashafyni knows that well. She and her husband were previously able to provide sufficiently for their children aged 5, 9 and 12, as they both were earning an income. Mdm Ashafyni was a babysitter, and her husband a cleaner.
However, things took a turn for the worse, when Mdm Ashafyni was hospitalised due to a lung infection caused by chronic asthma earlier this year. This resulted in her husband having to take leave to care for the children for an extended period of time. His contract eventually got terminated in March 2023 as he was unable to show up for work due to his responsibility as a caregiver in Mdm Ashafyni’s absence.
Mdm Ashafyni’s contract as a babysitter also got terminated around the same time as the employer no longer required a babysitter, leaving the couple unemployed and without means to provide for their family.

While she plans to get the necessary certifications in order to set up a home business, she is also seeking employment in the F&B sector to support the family financially.
This is not RoH’s first time partnering with the family. The family however showed remarkable tenacity, finding stable employment and sustaining their household after their first fundraiser. With your generous assistance previously, Mdm Ashafyni was able to gain employment as a babysitter while her husband was gainfully employed after his release from prison.
Your donations will go a long way in not only helping practically, but encouraging the family as well to stay strong even now.
