Ray of Hope is raising $6,100.50 ($871.50 x 7 months) to help Ashley and her children. The funds will help with groceries, milk formula and diapers.

Ashley is a young single mother who lives with her children, her mother and elder sister in a 4-room HDB flat. Her children, aged 7 and 2, are from her previous relationships and she is not receiving financial support for them.

Ashley is four months pregnant from her current relationship. Her partner works as a food delivery rider, and earns approximately $1,500 a month. The couple has marriage plans and is currently working out their finances.

The 20 year-old is currently enrolled in a WSQ Diploma in Retail (Operations) course, to upgrade her skills and prepare for better employment opportunities. She expects to complete her course in 2 to 3 months’ time. Before her last pregnancy, Ashley worked as a part-time service staff in a kitchen bar, earning between $500 to $600 per month.

Ashley’s 2 year-old daughter attends infant care and Ashley hopes to seek employment after she gives birth. She sells home-baked cookies, and earns approximately $100 a month from online sales.

Although there are two main income earners at home, namely her mother and elder sister, Ashley and her children still struggle financially. Ashley’s 56 year-old widowed mum works as a promoter and her 31 year-old sister works as an administrative staff. Both make minimal contributions to the household expenses.
