What happened to Mdm Azlinda?

Mdm Azlinda has 10 children, aged between 17 to 2. Her husband, Md Fadzli, is the sole provider for the family. He works as a Maintenance Technician and an ad-hoc delivery driver. While the journey had its challenges, the couple managed their finances prudently, ensuring that Mr Fadzli’s monthly income of $2,740 covered all the children’s needs. However, the family encountered an unexpected crisis in July 2023 when Mdm Azlinda’s two nieces, aged 4 and 3, were placed under her care due to their mother’s incarceration.

This unexpected turn of events added a tremendous burden to an already financially strained household. Mdm Azlinda, who had been a homemaker managing their household, now found herself with the responsibility of caring for 12 children. It is a daunting task that stretched her caregiving capabilities to the limit.

How can you help?

Your generous support of $4,000 would support the family for 8 months ($500/ month). This will cover the children’s milk and diaper costs and defray the cost of their groceries. More significantly, it will allow Mdm Azlinda the breathing space to resolve underlying problems with the help of other social service organisations as they work towards a more hopeful future.

Caring for a total of twelve children is no small feat, especially when Mr Fadzli is often away for work. In addition to his full-time role as a Maintenance Technician, Mr Fadzli has been working as an ad-hoc delivery driver on weekends to make ends meet. He has also enrolled himself in an aircon maintenance course, aiming to upskill and secure a better-paying job. However, a recent knee injury while exercising has left him on medical leave and reliant on crutches for mobility. Unfortunately, this means he is temporarily unable to work as a delivery driver, further compounding their challenges.

Nevertheless, giving up has never been an option for the couple. Mdm Azlinda’s unwavering commitment to providing a secure and loving home for all ten of her own children, as well as her two nieces, continues to be her driving force.
