Blessing Hands Ltd aims to serve/support the homeless, vulnerable/underprivileged families who need basic furniture for their new rental flat. We collect and move pre-loved furniture and electrical appliances. Some examples of common necessities are beds, wardrobe, fridge, washing machine, dining table, standing fan, sofa, TV.

As  an independent organisation without any resources from the government or larger corporations, we must be self-reliant for funding. The items that we move are large and bulky and this cannot be done by our small team. Moving these items includes both the collection and delivery, as well as the storage of items in a warehouse. Hence, we need to hire professional movers to help transport the items.

All donated funds will be used to cover 100% of the movers cost.

As transportation costs can vary depending on location, timing, number of items, and even flight of stairs, it was very hard to pinpoint exactly how much we’d like to set our default amount. To simplify the process, every $50 donated will be used to transport one item to our beneficiaries home. $100 for two items, $150 for three items, and $500 to move an entire home of furniture such as beds, wardrobe, fridge, washing machine, dining table, standing fan, sofa, TV, etc. Full and complete proper accounting will be done upon the distribution of funds to the movers for the donor’s viewing.

About Blessing Hands:

Blessing Hands Ltd was formed in 2021 by a group of like-minded volunteers who reach out to the vulnerable, and homeless, especially those in dire straits. Our mission is to restore dignity to the underprivileged and create a safe and decent home by improving their living conditions and blessing pre-loved furniture to vulnerable families living in government rental housing.

Blessing Hands work closely with The Lighthouse, a student-led group from NTU that befriends and empowers rough sleepers in Singapore around the wider Jurong West area.

Homelessness in Singapore is not a myth. A nationwide homelessness street count from 2019 showed that there were approximately 1,000 homeless individuals in Singapore, many of whom remain unknown to the government and social service agencies. Homelessness itself is a symptom rather than a root cause. Many individuals are rendered homeless due to a combination of one or more of the following issues: poverty, estranged familial relationships, mental illnesses, alcoholism, and substance abuse (not an exclusive list).
