Mdm Rani had a previous campaign with us in 2023, and is currently in the application process for a second campaign.
Mdm Rani is wheelchair-bound and lives with her son Vinesh who works long hours as the sole breadwinner. The household income is insufficient to cover even basic needs, and Mdm Rani currently owns only three sets of shirts and pants, which often do not dry in time between wears. Due to financial constraints and Vinesh’s limited availability, they have not been able to purchase new clothing.
Her lack of appropriate clothing has taken a toll on her mental and emotional well-being. She often feels unpresentable and embarrassed to leave the house, which deepens her sense of isolation. Even attending her many medical appointments has become a struggle.
Recently, she underwent surgery on her left hand (due to arthritis) and is still recovering. She continues to experience pain, which makes wearing trousers difficult. Additionally, she has not been able to brush her hair, as removing hair from the comb is painful with her current condition.
Her need for clothing is known to her other SSAs, and her TTSH MSW has noted her dressing difficulties, however they are unable to support with clothing needs.
To drawdown a total of
$56.74 from the
Empowering Women’s Hope Circle for a
self-cleaning comb, 2 dresses and footwear, to be ordered from Shein (items linked in the application form). These items would offer her immediate comfort and dignity, and support her recovery and mental well-being by making it easier for her to engage with the community again.
