We disrupt the media landscape by crowdsourcing under-utilised public-facing spaces such as vehicles and building façades, and offer them up to brands for advertising.  We are obsessed with the power of collective, and believe that strong messages can be effectively communicated via thoughtfully curated spaces.

Our What: Cause

Boom Town Charlie is doing our part to fortify social distancing in Singapore. We want to give FREE Safe Distancing Stickers to local establishments such as F&B, retail, clinics, shopping malls, offices and more.  We believe that if safe distancing measures can be easily understood, implemented and reminded at the point of action, we can all do our part to effectively suppress the spread of COVID-19.

These Safe Distancing stickers come in 2 types, namely

1. Floor Stickers
2. Table/Seat Stickers

We have a goal to fundraise S$175,000 for 50,000 stickers to be distributed islandwide, by 30 June 2020.

Each sticker costs S$3.50. 

The funds raised will go into the production costs of the stickers, the web development, the design costs, the distribution costs and manpower costs.

As the saying goes, “Put money where your mouth is”, and we are doing just that.  Before any funds are raised, we have developed and deployed the website, as well as distributed about 2,500 Smart Stickers to establishments that need them at our own costs. 

Our Why: Problems

Since COVID-19 happened, it has been found that social distancing is effective in slowing down the spread of the virus in our community. Our government has since given out guidelines for safe distancing, and we want to enable everyone, as a collective society, to play our part in practicing social distancing effectively, in a bid to suppress the spread of COVID-19 and protect the most vulnerable among us.

1. Many local establishments were unable to react swiftly enough to the mandatory Safe Distancing measures imposed by the government. As a result, most have resorted to haphazardly pasting makeshift masking tapes within their premises.
2. Besides being aesthetically unappealing, such markings may not be easily understood by people.  To a certain extent, it could even be confusing.
3. Furthermore, these makeshift tapes can become a health & safety hazard as they tend to peel off easily and are not made of anti-slip materials. At times, it can cause more harm than good.
4. As most printing production houses are not considered essential goods and services, it is difficult for many local establishments to locate a supplier that is currently in operations.
5. To add salt to wound, most establishments are not equipped with the know-how to design artworks for print.
6. We are expecting Safe Distancing measures to continue to be in place even after the Circuit Breaker is lifted (and rightfully so).
7. Therefore, it is important that our fellow establishments can receive these FREE stickers and be well-prepared for it.

Our How: Solution

This ground-up initiative will provide local establishments, at no cost, with the production/printing and supply of Safe Distancing stickers that are both aesthetically pleasing and designed such that it is easily understood by the general public. These are professional quality stickers that are anti-slip and they don’t peel off easily, thus, it reduces the risk of people tripping over makeshift tapes on the floor that have their ends rolled up over time.

Two-pronged approach:

1.     Support and fortify the effectiveness of Safe Distancing outside of our homes so that we can reduce the spread of COVID-19 and go back to normalcy as soon as possible by providing easy-to-understand and durable instructional stickers.
2.     The business of many local establishments in sectors such as F&B, retail and small enterprises have been severely affected by the COVID-19 situation and many are struggling to stay afloat. We believe that by providing and supplying them with these Safe Distancing stickers for free, will not only provide some financial and operational relief, but more importantly, demonstrate that we as a community, care for their survival and will do our part, however big or small, to support them through this trying times.

We are therefore appealing to the general public to support this initiative in providing these Safe Distancing Stickers free-of-charge to our local establishments that need them, and more importantly, promote and encourage the adherence of Safe Distancing measures by the general public to control and suppress the spread of COVID-19 within our community, and protect the most vulnerable among us.
