Be the first to donate to A Daughter’s Unwavering Care Through Life’s Hardest Seasons

After overcoming her own struggles with drug use and incarceration, 54-year-old Mdm Fara is now devoting her life to caring for her aging parents — an act of redemption, love, and resilience. Living with her husband in a HDB rental flat, she shared the caregiving duties with her younger brother until recently.

Her father, who suffers from early-stage kidney failure and dementia, had to be moved to a nursing home in May 2024 as his condition worsened. Mdm Fara visits him weekly, bringing familiar food — Maggie noodles, bread, fruits, drinks, and nasi padang — because he struggles to eat the meals served there. These weekly visits, though filled with love, cost her around $400 a month, a heavy burden on her limited means.

Her mother, once cared for by her brother, has diabetes, arthritis, hypertension, herpes, and a painful hip and shoulder contusion. She also relies on a Stoma bag. On 14 October 2025, her mother was rushed to the hospital as her Stoma bag leaked and was refusing food; she is likely to be moved to a nursing home after discharge. Adding to the strain, Mdm Fara’s 17-year-old daughter now stays alone in the parents’ flat, while her brother — her partner in caregiving — battles his own health crisis.

When Caregivers Fall Ill Too

On the same day her mother was hospitalised, Mdm Fara’s brother was admitted to the ICU. He was diagnosed with multiple complications affecting his thyroid, heart, kidneys, and lungs. The one person who used to share the caregiving load is now critically ill himself.

Meanwhile, Mdm Fara’s own health has been deteriorating. Chronic neck and spine pain limit her mobility and have kept her from returning to work. She is currently seeking medical help in hopes of finding a long-term solution, but treatment and rehabilitation take both time and money — two things she doesn’t have enough of.

Despite her efforts, her applications for SSO and MUIS assistance were rejected because of her husband’s income, which still leaves the family far short of covering their real expenses. Her sense of responsibility drives her to keep giving — for her father’s comfort, her mother’s recovery, her brother’s survival — even while she herself is in pain and arrears.

A Bridge Toward Stability and Healing

This campaign seeks to help Mdm Fara rebuild stability so she can continue caring for her family while tending to her own health. With support, she can clear her medical arrears of $999.65, cover her monthly deficit of $303, and manage transport expenses of $100 for regular visits to her bedridden brother and parents. Over six months, this amounts to a total fundraising goal of $3,417.65.

Your contribution will allow Mdm Fara to breathe again — to focus on her medical recovery, resume work when able, and be present for her loved ones without the crushing stress of unpaid bills. By lifting this immediate weight, you help her not just financially, but emotionally, too.

Because those who dedicate their lives to caring for others deserve to be cared for themselves.
