What happened to Faysal?
On 19th September 2022, Faysal was hacking the wall while standing on the ladder. When he took a step back on the ladder, he lost his balance and fell. He landed on his right side, injuring his back, right shoulder and leg. The accident left Faysal with a persistent pain on his back and shoulders.
The doctors have advised that Faysal requires an MRI scan before deciding on the treatment plan for his sustained injuries. Unfortunately, his employer refused to provide a Letter of Guarantee (LOG) for the MRI. As Faysal did not have the means to pay for the scan, he was left untreated for close to 9 months, relying only on painkillers to manage his pain.
For close to nine months, Faysal has been greatly distressed and desperate to seek treatment, in hopes of continued employment. However, his employer has refused to pay his salary and MC wages. Faysal was issued a total of 179 days of medical leave.

35 year-old Faysal is from Bangladesh and is the eldest among his four siblings. He was employed to work in Singapore as a General Worker in the construction industry after paying approximately $3,500 in agent fees through personal loans. Faysal was earning approximately $1,400 and had only worked for 1.5 months before he met with the accident. Faysal had remitted the bulk of his salary to his family for their living expenses, keeping only a small amount for himself.
Back home, Faysal was supporting his parents and 14 year-old school-going sister. SInce the accident, Faysal has lost the means to provide for his family. He hopes to get better so that he can continue working. However, he is also worried about the possibility of not fully recovering due to the delay in treatment. His injuries, if left untreated, make it dangerous for him to return to work in construction sites as he is unable to carry heavy items and cannot stand or walk for long durations.
