Support George’s Recovery and Daily Expenses
What happened
George’s life has been shaped by two major setbacks. A workplace injury in 2018 left him wheelchair-bound after developing myofascial pain syndrome, a chronic condition affecting his muscles and connective tissue.
In January 2026, he suffered a stroke, which further reduced his mobility and independence. Doctors have shared that prolonged stress may have been a contributing factor. Today, George attends physiotherapy every Monday and occupational therapy every Friday as he works toward regaining strength.
At present, he requires assistance with three out of six activities of daily living, but he does not have regular caregiving support at home.
How he’s trying
Despite these challenges, George continues to push through each day on his own. With no regular caregiver, he manages most of his daily routines independently, from moving around his home to completing basic tasks, often slowly and with difficulty.
“I have to do my daily activities slowly. I don’t have a choice,” he shared.
He remains committed to his recovery and attends therapy consistently. Looking ahead, George hopes to take on remote administrative work if his condition improves. His doctor will review his progress after June to assess whether he may be fit for employment.
The current barriers
At this stage, George is unable to work due to his medical condition. With limited family support, he is largely managing alone during this recovery period.
He has been trying to get by on about $6 a day, which is often not enough to cover even his meals and basic necessities. This gap in his daily needs adds strain to an already challenging recovery journey.
Why now
George is currently in a time-sensitive phase of recovery, where consistent therapy and stability will directly affect how much independence he can regain.
Without support during this period, financial stress may affect his recovery progress. Short-term support would allow him to focus on rehabilitation while preparing for his next medical review after June.
“Despite these difficulties, I am hopeful that with time, proper support, and guidance, I will be able to regain strength and stability,” George shared.
What the funds will support
Ray of Hope is raising funds to support George with $400 per month until September 2026. This will help cover his daily meals, groceries, and essential living needs while he focuses on recovery.
Your support can ease the daily strain he faces and give him the stability to focus on recovery instead of survival. With time and support, George has a chance to regain his strength and independence.
