Be the first to donate to A Family Finding Strength Through Uncertainty

Gabriella, 25, and her younger sisters, Giovanna, 19, and Gianina, 18, have lived and studied in Singapore since 2012. They grew up here, built friendships here, and truly consider this place home.

But since September 2024, a series of painful setbacks has shaken everything they thought was stable. In that month, Gabriella lost her full-time job as a digital media editor. Five months later, their father also lost his job and could no longer send financial support. The sisters suddenly found themselves drifting without the safety net they once relied on.

One Setback After Another

In March 2025, the three sisters were forced to move out of their rented HDB flat when their landlord enforced an unusually strict tenancy agreement. With nowhere stable to turn to, uncertainty became their daily reality.

In April, the family was hit again when Gianina could not pay her school fees on time. Her student pass was revoked and she had no choice but to return to Indonesia. Just as the sisters were trying to hold everything together, Gabriella’s Long Term Visit Pass expired on 29 October 2025. She was given a Short Term Visit Pass valid only until 27 November 2025. This meant she could no longer work part time, and she will likely have to leave Singapore once the pass expires.

Today, Gabriella and Giovanna share a single rented room while trying to stay afloat. On top of their mounting expenses, they are also paying off rental arrears at one thousand dollars a month from October 2025 to April 2026, as ordered by the Small Claims Tribunal.

Doing Everything They Can, Yet Still Falling Short

Through all of this, Giovanna has been doing her best. She is a full-time Fine Arts student, volunteers with a charity foundation which supports her education, and works extra hours at her part-time job. The strain is beginning to show. She now carries the weight of supporting herself, covering the current room rental, and paying the court-mandated arrears because Gabriella is no longer allowed to work.

Gabriella, who had been working in retail while chasing a full-time digital media role, saw her hopes collapse just as she was close to securing employment. The sisters reached out to their local religious organization and several social service agencies. While each organisation did what they could, the assistance was short-term and not enough to stabilise their situation. This is what led them to Ray of Hope.

How Your Support Helps Giovanna Stay on Her Feet

Giovanna has lived in Singapore since she was a toddler. This is the home she knows, the home she wants to continue building her future in. But her monthly part-time income is not enough to cover her basic living expenses. She runs a monthly deficit of 300 dollars, and her savings have already run out.

With your support, Giovanna can cover six months of essential expenses while Gabriella works toward regaining her legal ability to stay and work in Singapore. The funds will give Giovanna space to focus on her studies, continue contributing to her community, and hold on to hope that her sisters can reunite in Singapore next year.

This campaign seeks to raise $1,833 for six months of essential household support ($300 per month).
