Dear Donor,

Our case managers have been meeting the family regularly over the past five months to disburse Rasul’s financial assistance. We initially raised S$2,304 (S$384 x 6 months) to defray Rasul’s milk powder and diapers expenses for 6 months. We have disbursed his financial assistance for five months for the months of May 2019 to September 2019.

Corporate sponsors has reached out to us and donated 3 months worth of milk powder and diapers. Therefore, we have deferred October 2019 disbursement to January 2020.

Rasul’s mother recently informed us that his hearing has deteriorated and he is currently undergoing further tests to determine the cause. He still attends a special school and this gives some respite to his mother who is his full time caregiver. Rasul’s parents are extremely grateful for the assistance and would like to thank the donor for their kind donation!

Our case managers recently met Mdm Sri Rahayu. Rasul was in school and the family is doing well. They are relieved that they no longer have to worry about Rasul’s special milk powder. Mdm Rahayu’s other children are also doing well in school. Their eldest daughter has strong support from a VWO that focuses on children and youths and in the middle of October, the VWO has arranged for an outing for a buffet meal at a hotel.

Our case managers recently met Mdm Sri Rahayu and Mr Ridwan. Rasul was not in school as he was down with fever and was resting in his room. Rasul’s parents have decided not to install a medical device on Rasul at this moment and are exploring other options.

Mdm Sri Rahayu and her sister in law made this delicious stuffed begedil for the case managers. They are appreciative for the assistance rendered as they do not have to worry about Rasul’s milk powder.

We recently met Mdm Rahayu and Mr Ridwan. He was on medical leave as he was suffering from diarrhea. Mr Ridwan informs us that Rasul’s doctors have suggested that they do an operation to install a medical device on the side of his stomach to administer his medicine. Due to Rasul’s spasticity, his muscles tend to harden. Once every 3 months, Rasul requires 20 injections of muscle relaxation which is administered throughout his body. As he is non-communicative he is unable to express the pain of the injection however, from his facial expressions, the doctors and his parents know that the injections are painful for Rasul.

The medical device will be inserted to the side of his stomach and a tube will be linked to his spine. The medication will be released through the tube and it will be distributed throughout his body reducing the pain of the injections.

This device has been operated and used by the elderly however, this will be the first time that a child will be using the device. Mr Ridwan and Mdm Rahayu are weighing their options before making a decision that is best for Rasul.

Our case managers recently met Mdm Rahayu, Rasul’s mother. Rasul was in school when we met Mdm Rahayu. She is deeply grateful to donors for their kind donations. As Rasul is solely dependent on his special milk powder, this has taken a load off their mind. Rasul’s father tries his hardest to supplement the family’s income with overtime work however, the overtime income earned is not consistent.
