Mr JY is an Indian Migrant Worker who supports his family of 5 back home. His parents, wife, and son are all dependent on him.

His Injury

On 19th July 2019, Mr JY’s right hand got caught in a machine the laundry shop that he was working at. Mr JY was on medical leave from August to December 2019. Since 6th December, his employer has only paid him his MC wages, but did not pay salary, nor provide food. Mr JY borrowed money from his friends to pay rent ($350/month). Recently he had to pawn his only gold chain to pay his rent and buy food.

On 18 March, Mr JY paid for his final assessment which was supposed to be scheduled in May, but the hospital had informed him that they are unable to schedule any appointment for him with the circuit breaker measures that came into place. With all these delays, he would be burdened with more financial expenses staying in Singapore while waiting for his final assessment.

Financial Distress

With no source of income while awaiting his final assessment, Mr JY is in distress. His elderly father and mother in his home country are relying on him for sustenance and other living expenses. His wife in her thirties is taking care of their 4-year-old son.

Financial Assistance

Ray of Hope would like to raise $4,250 for Mr JY, being his living expenses for 5 months ($500 x 5 months) as well as for his outstanding rent of $1,750. This will help him to send remittances home to his family as he awaits his re-assessment.
