“My kids are very positive. We believe that this hardship won’t last forever. This tough time has brought us closer, and we support each other. “My kids are very positive. We believe that this hardship won’t last forever. This tough time has brought us closer, and we support each other. Our goal is to improve—academically and in our living conditions. Once we achieve that, we want to help others who are in need, just like us,” Hatijah shared.
For Hatijah and her five children, strength through unity has been their guiding light. But a sudden and unexpected challenge has turned their world upside down.
A Family Uprooted by Sudden Circumstances
Hatijah’s husband, Haiqal, was unexpectedly charged with being part of an illegal gathering. He had only gone to meet his brother at the scene, unaware that someone else in the group had ill intentions. Despite his lack of involvement, Haiqal now faces incarceration, leaving Hatijah to shoulder the family’s responsibilities entirely on her own.
Haiqal’s incarceration not only separates him from his wife and children but also robs the family of a stable future he was on the brink of securing. For a family of seven, the weight of his absence has been overwhelming.
A Mother’s Unwavering Determination
As a mother to three school-going children and two preschoolers, Hatijah has always put her family’s needs first. She was scheduled to begin a new job as a clinic assistant on 2 December 2024—a role that would have brought stability to their lives—but her three-year-old’s severe lung infection forced her to stay home as a caregiver.
Despite the setbacks, Hatijah is now working to renew assistance with the Social Service Office (SSO) to ensure her children’s basic necessities are met.
“I want to give my children the love I never received growing up,” Hatijah says.
How you can support
Ray of Hope is raising $1,950 to provide Hatijah and her family with:
- Two months of groceries: $500/month
- Two months of children’s expenses: $475/month
This support will help ease their burden and provide stability during this challenging time, allowing Hatijah to focus on her children’s well-being.
A Vision for a Better Tomorrow
Hatijah sees these hardships not as an end but as a chance to build something stronger with her children. She dreams of a future where they overcome their struggles and are able to give back to others, just as they have received.
Let’s help Hatijah and her family find their footing again. Every contribution brings them closer to stability and a brighter future.
