The Struggle

Madam Lee, 84 years old, used to be a healthy individual working to support herself financially. Unfortunately, she had a fall last November and sustained severe injuries on her right leg. In recent months, Madam Lee had undergone a few surgeries for her leg and currently requires assistance in her activities of daily living.

Help Needed – Give Hope

Although Madam Lee has two children whom she shares a close relationship with, she has been staying alone in her 2-room rental flat. Madam Lee’s son who is in his late fifties is currently incarcerated and will only be released next year. Madam Lee’s daughter, who was in her early fifties, has passed away from cancer about 3 years ago. Since then, the elderly have been relying on her god-daughter who visits her twice a week and accompanies Madam Lee for her medical appointments.

The 84-year-old used to hold largely cleaning jobs before her fall. With her injuries now and a loss of ability to support herself, Madam Lee requires Home Care Services until she regains her health and strength to continue living independently. Relying only on SSO assistance of $150 and a quarterly Silver Support payout, Madam Lee is unable to afford the home care services due to her tight financial situation.

Financial Breakdown

ROHI would like to raise $540 ($180* x 3 months) to help Madam Lee with her home care services during this period of recovery. Payment will be made to the relevant agency directly.

*Madam Lee is currently on public assistance. The amount quoted for the home-care services is after 80% government subsidy.
