 Support Hema, a determined 31-year-old single mother facing financial challenges amidst life’s challenges.

Working full-time as a paramedic to care for her two children, Hema has weathered the difficulties of two challenging marriages, leaving her emotionally strained and burdened with debt. Despite these obstacles, she remains steadfast in her commitment to improving her family’s situation.

Since our last campaign, Hema has successfully met her goal of renewing her nursing license.

We hope to support Hema’s family for six months. Your gift will allow her breathing space as she works tirelessly to provide for her household alone.

 A monthly contribution of just $803 would cover their basic living expenses, power supply, and school bus fees, providing much-needed stability for this resilient family.

 Hema’s Journey

Hema shoulders the sole responsibility of providing for her 8-year-old son, who falls on the Autistic Spectrum, and her 9-year-old daughter. Her journey is one marked by adversity stemming from a prolonged divorce, caregiving duties, and health setbacks. Years of struggle resulted in the suspension of her nursing license, plunging her into financial hardship.

Facing the challenges head-on, Hema embraced the role of a full-time paramedic, frequently working overtime to make ends meet. Despite her relentless efforts, the family remains ensnared in a cycle of debt and financial strain.

Demonstrating courage and resourcefulness, she opted to forgo social assistance, instead hiring a domestic helper to provide crucial support with caregiving and household chores. Working full-time allows her to plan for future social mobility rather than being reliant on long-term social assistance. This decision has proven cost-effective for her family.

 The positive impact of this choice is evident, particularly in the significant improvement in 8-year-old Ravi’s behavioural and emotional well-being, aided by the stability and structure introduced into their daily routine. With your generous support, Hema achieved her goal of renewing her nursing license, reinstating her eligibility to pursue her ambition of advancing to the role of an Ambulance Nurse.

Despite these strides, Hema continues to grapple with overwhelming burdens accumulated over more than eight years of financial insecurity and debt.
