In loving memory of our cherished grandmother, Mdm Ang Kim Ton, who passed away on December 4, 2023, Sharon, Elaine and Darren are embarking on a heartfelt campaign to honour her legacy of strength, resilience, and love.
She was a remarkable woman who, as a widow in her 30s, courageously raised nine children, leaving a lasting impact on her family and community. Among her proudest achievements were her 21 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
To commemorate her life and the upcoming International Women’s Day, we are seeding this campaign with $60,000 to support women in Singapore. The proceeds will be equally distributed among three deserving charities: Ray of Hope, New Life Stories and (SHE) SG Her Empowerment. All 3 charities are also Institute of Public Character (IPCs), which means your donation will also be tax deductible.
Your generous contributions will make a meaningful difference in the lives of women in Singapore, honoring our grandmother’s legacy of empowerment and compassion. Thank you for joining us in this endeavor to uplift and support women in our community.
With gratitude,
Sharon, Elaine and Darren Teo
The 3 charities you are supporting
1. Ray of Hope Empowering Women Fund:
Ray of Hope is a crowdfunding charity committed to providing community support and resources to those in need. The Ray of Hope Empowering Women Giving Circle aims to encourage and empower women to overcome challenges and pursue their dreams. Funds will assist women in various ways, including childcare support, grocery assistance for single mothers, and financial aid for those impacted by the pandemic. Every beneficiary has been rigorously assessed to ensure donations directly benefit those in need.
2. New Life Stories:
New Life Stories is dedicated to supporting children with incarcerated parents and their families. Their Family Strengthening Programme employs a holistic ThroughCare approach, providing vital support to prevent intergenerational incarceration, reduce re-offending, and improve overall quality of life. The funds raised will be utilized to run their programme effectively for over 120 families, offering befriending for children, family therapy, peer support groups, and more.
3. SG Her Empowerment SHE:
SG Her Empowerment (SHE):
SHE is an independent non-profit organisation, with Institution of Public Character status, that empowers girls and women through community engagements, research, and partnerships. SHE is dedicated to uplifting girls and women by encouraging mindset changes on traditional gender norms that can hold girls and women back from achieving their best potential. We aim to achieve this through our SHE Sneak Peek learning visits for girls aged 15-21, our SHE Supports programme with NTUC, and our Annual Symposium. SHE also believes that girls and women should be safe online. To this end we have launched the region’s first support centre for traders of online games, SHECARES@SCWO. In 2024, SHE will focus on empowering women in the workplace, including those re-entering the workforce. Funds raised will go towards SHE’s operating costs.
