Kamrul is from Bangladesh and is the eldest among his four siblings. He was employed to work in Singapore as a General Worker in the landscaping industry. Kamrul was earning approximately $1,200 (inclusive of overtime pay) and would remit the bulk of his salary to his family for their living expenses, keeping only a small amount for himself.
Back home, Kamrul was supporting his parents, his wife and their 6-year-old daughter. Since the accident, Kamrul has had no means to provide for his family. He continues to struggle with severe pain and mounting pressure to send remittances home to his father who needs medication for his health conditions. His 75-year-old father has suffered from a stroke since 2015, requiring daily medication and assistance for his daily activities. Kamrul’s mother is the main caregiver to his father.
Kamrul is determined to regain his strength and return to a life where he can once again provide for his family. He has been diligently attending physiotherapy sessions and is waiting for his work injury compensation assessment to conclude.
