Since starting KampungKakis in April 2020, we had observed that many households had suffered tremendously from the impacts of Covid-19 in terms of job loss and cost of living. 

Families such as Mrs Tan’s* were especially hard hit during the pandemic and continue struggling to get by. Mrs Tan is the mother and sole caregiver to 2 young children, a 5-year old boy with autism and a 9-month old infant, while Mr Tan is the sole breadwinner of the family. Due to the 5-year old boy’s care needs, Mrs Tan is unable to work and has to be a full time carer, while Mr Tan also has to hold a job with flexible working arrangement in order to support with caregiving. 

As the cost of children’s expenses have risen while the family’s income dipped, the family struggles to afford milk powder and diapers on a regular basis. 

There are current milk powder and diapers programmes that support low-income families, but these programmes typically only serve children ages 3 and below. Children like Mrs Tan’s son continue to require support past the age of 3, thus falling through the cracks. 

Your donations will go towards the purchase of milk powder and diapers for these children.
