Ray of Hope is raising S$20,000 ($4,000 x 5 months) for migrant worker Mdm Li to seek treatment in her home country. Ray of Hope is working with a Non-Government Organisation (NGO) whose caseworkers are in touch with Mdm Li for updates on her condition. Please donate and give hope to Mdm Li, as she battles leukaemia.  

Mdm Li Hongyan came to Singapore in 2021 to provide a better life for her elderly parents and son in China. After paying more than RMB30,000 in agent fees, the single mother started working as a kitchen assistant, working tirelessly to support her family. However, things took an unfortunate turn when Mdm Li was diagnosed with acute leukaemia in April 2022.

Prior to her diagnosis, Mdm Li remitted most of her $1,500 monthly salary to her family.

Mdm Li often worries about her parents who are in their 70s. Her mother suffers from Cerebral Venous Sinus Thrombosis (CVST), a serious condition where blood does not drain from the brain and may leak into the brain tissue which may cause a haemorrhage. She also suffers from brittle bones.

With no income to support her own medical treatment and her dependents, Mdm Li returned to China on 19th May. However, Mdm Li is under immense stress as the family has lost their main source of income. She is now seeking treatment in China, which will likely cost $20,000, as she cannot afford institutional care in Singapore.
