But for many low-income families, the festivities can feel out of reach, leaving them in the shadows of celebration. Lights for Hope 2024 (LFH’24) invites you to be the light that guides them back into the fold.

Through your support, Lights for Hope ensures that struggling families can enjoy the simple joys of Deepavali. Whether it’s helping a family afford a festive meal or ensuring their children have new clothes to wear, your donation will make a difference.

Together, we’re raising $5780 to support 14 families—reaching 26 adults and 4 children. A donation of: 

◊ $60: Provides a family with a set of 3 Deepavali cookies

◊ $80: Covers a child’s festive shopping

◊ $100: Ensures each family receives grocery vouchers 

◊ $120: Offers an angbao to adults, easing the financial burden of the festivities.

The Paneer family faced a devastating series of events. Mr. Paneer, a hardworking father, underwent a below-knee amputation due to diabetes. A fire later destroyed their home, including his new prosthetic leg. The family received community support, but their journey to rebuild is ongoing. Essential repairs remain incomplete, making it difficult for them to return to normal life or even think of celebrating Deepavali.

Shankar, the sole breadwinner, lost his job due to a hand injury. The family was managing, but the sudden financial strain has forced his pregnant wife to miss essential prenatal care. They also have an 8-year-old son to provide for. Your donation can help them weather this storm.

Varsha, a resilient single mother and domestic violence survivor, is seeking your support to pursue her dream of becoming a phlebotomist. Despite facing unexpected challenges, including a battle with COVID and a family emergency that led to the loss of her job, Varsha remains determined to stay in the healthcare field.
