For most mothers, caring for a new-born means sleepless nights and endless feedings. For Mdm Anoi, it also means juggling the needs of ten other family members in their small two-room rental flat.

Mdm Anoi recently gave birth to her eighth child on 4 August, and has not been able to return to work as she tends to her baby and manages a bustling household of eleven.

Despite receiving in-kind assistance from several social service agencies, the highest level of school-fee support for her son with special needs, and the maximum home caregiving grant, it is still not enough. Each month, the family faces a shortfall of about $700

Mdm Anoi intends to resume work when her baby turns six months old — but until then, she needs a little help to stay afloat.

As she puts it simply, “It’s impossible for the mum to ignore the kids because I don’t want them to feel hungry.” Her words echo the unrelenting love and quiet strength of a mother determined to keep her children safe and fed, no matter the hardship.

Holding On Through Health and Hardship

Mdm Anoi has never shied away from hard work. She is certified and experienced in cleaning services, having previously served as a supervisor, and also holds a food hygiene certificate that qualifies her for roles in food preparation and service.

But poor physical and mental health, coupled with her recent delivery and ligation surgery, have made it impossible for her to return to work right away.

Caring for children across different ages presents a daily balancing act. Her five-year-old son, who is non-verbal and not toilet-trained due to autism, requires constant attention.

Meanwhile, her husband’s health has recently declined, causing him to fall ill repeatedly and miss work, leaving the family with less income each month.

Despite their best efforts, the family’s application to the Social Service Office (SSO) for financial assistance was unsuccessful. They intend to reapply, this time with guided support from a community partner.

Mdm Anoi’s family has weathered crises before — but this time, the combination of her recovery, her husband’s ill health, and the cost of raising eight young children has left them stretched to the limit.

A Small Window to Heal and Hope Again

By helping to cover the $700 monthly gap for the next six months, you can give Mdm Anoi and her family the breathing space they desperately need. This support will allow her to focus on her new-born during these critical early months, recover from childbirth safely, and regain her strength to return to work.

More importantly, your contribution helps stabilize a household where every dollar goes toward food, diapers, and daily essentials — things most of us take for granted.

With the right support, Mdm Anoi can rebuild her strength, rejoin the workforce, and work towards a sustainable future with multiple sources of income and assistance from SSO.

This campaign isn’t just about covering bills; it’s about giving a mother time to heal, a family room to breathe, and children the comfort of knowing they won’t go hungry tonight.
