Ray of Hope is raising $1,560 ($260 x 6 months) to help Mdm Halimah and her husband with their groceries.

For Mdm Halimah and her husband, both 57, life has been an uphill battle for them. 

Mdm Halimah used to work as a waitress while her husband was previously a van attendant. However, she stopped work in 2012 due to the pain on her right shoulder from a rotator cuff tear that resulted from carrying heavy stuff at work. Her husband with whom she shares an estranged relationship, also stopped working in 2020  due to his heart problems and depression. 

Mdm Halimah suffers poor mobility due to her existing conditions and finds much difficulty even in getting around unassisted in their 2-room rental flat. She also suffers from diabetes, severe dizziness and asthma. She has also been certified unfit for work until March 2023.

The couple relies on their monthly cash assistance of $300 to get by. However the amount she receives is insufficient for their daily needs. With costs of living rising, Mdm Halimah and her family are barely surviving. In the meantime, Mdm Halimah is attending physiotherapy in hopes of recovery so that she can seek part-time employment after her medical leave ends in March 2023. 

*Mdm Halimah is receiving social assistance. She will be referred to the nearest Family Service Centre for holistic intervention and assistance on employment.
