Ray of Hope is raising $2,004 ($334 x 6 months) for Mdm Norazlin and her children. The funds will help with groceries, milk formula and diapers.

36-year-old Mdm Norazlin is currently 20 weeks pregnant and with an estimated date of delivery in December 2022. She is also a mother to five children aged 18 months, 10, 14, 15 and 17. Of her 5 children, she is only receiving maintenance for her eldest daughter from her first marriage.

Mdm Norazlin lives in a one-room, rental flat with her two youngest children. The three older children are cared for by Mdm Norazlin’s younger sister.

Mdm Norazlin was previously employed as a linen attendant and earned approximately $1,400 a month. She left her job after 4 years, because her mother fell ill and needed a caregiver. Mdm Norazlin’s mother passed on in May 2022. Since then, Mdm Norazlin has been relying on financial support from the Social Service Office (SSO), which ends in November 2022.

After the birth of her youngest child, Mdm Norazlin was diagnosed with post-natal depression. She goes for follow-up sessions at the hospital every month.

Caring for her children is a full-time role in itself, and so Mdm Norazlin has not been able to get a full-time job to improve her family’s financial situation. She hopes to work part-time, from now until she gives birth in December, which would allow her to be at home when the children return from school.
