Ray of Hope is raising $2,400 ($400 x 6 months) in the form of NTUC vouchers to help Mdm Temelselvey with groceries while she cares for her sick husband.

58-year-old Mdm Temelselvey is the sole caregiver of her husband, 61. She previously took on catering jobs to support the family, but stopped working in 2019 after suffering a mild stroke. Her husband is also unable to work due to his ailing health. He suffers from chronic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol and poor eyesight. He also underwent a toe amputation due to gangrene.

Mdm Temelselvey and her husband have two sons, aged 32 and 37. Their older son lives with them in their 3-room flat. He is currently unemployed and does not contribute to the household. Their younger son is married with three children and he pays for some of the household bills.

The family has been relying on assistance from the Social Service Office, which will end in March 2022. Mdm Temelselvey and her husband are not eligible for the Silver Support Scheme as they are under the qualifying age of 65.
