With her divorce finalised in August 2024, Aisyah is navigating one of the toughest chapters of her life. Having fought hard to win custody of her two children, she now faces the daunting task of selling their matrimonial home and moving her family into a new flat. While she has successfully secured a unit for herself, her two children, and their helper, the process comes with overwhelming financial strain.
Her ex-partner left the home in November and has insisted that Aisyah continue covering housing expenses until she and the children vacate the unit in March 2025. To make matters worse, he has yet to begin paying the court-ordered child maintenance.
“I don’t ask for divorce payments from my ex-husband because I want him to focus on managing payments for the children’s monthly maintenance,” Aisyah shared, reflecting her selfless prioritisation of her children’s well-being over her own needs.
Fighting For A Brighter Future
When Ray of Hope last visited Aisyah, her quiet strength was evident, though it was clear life had taken its toll. She appeared visibly thinner and more frail, yet her determination to provide for her children remained steadfast. Despite her struggles, she continues to fight for the sake of her two children, one of whom requires additional support.
Thanks to the generosity of donors from her earlier campaign, Aisyah has been able to make some progress: her youngest child, Hafiy, has recently been enrolled in a Special Education (SPED) program and now attends school twice a week. In a moment of joy, Aisyah shared how Hafiy has started feeding himself independently—a small but meaningful step forward.
“I just want my kids to be happy and safe, in our new house,” she said, her voice filled with hope.
A Lifetime of Resilience
Aisyah’s resilience has been tested time and time again.
“In 2016, when I was in critical condition at the hospital and all my family members were gathered around me, I fought to open my eyes. I will keep fighting for my children because I want to see them through life,” she said, her words a reminder of the strength that has carried her through every hardship.
Once a paralegal and a student who scored an A* in Mathematics during her PSLE, Aisyah’s life took an unexpected turn when her health deteriorated. Now, she stands at another crossroads, focusing all her energy on rebuilding her family’s future.
