What happened to Mohammad?
In September 2023, Mohammad, a 29-year-old father of four, faced a devastating blow when he lost his job. To support their family of six, Mohammad and his wife, Siti, have been working tirelessly, juggling this full-time position with additional ad-hoc jobs to ensure the family’s immediate needs were met. However, his full-time logistics contract was abruptly terminated due to numerous urgent leaves taken to care for the children when they were unwell.

Siti is a full-time cleaner, earning between $800 to $1,000 per month, but her income also took a hit as she could no longer take paid leave when she had to care for their children. With their four young children and one more on the way, the couple is burdened by financial stress and uncertainty.

How can you help?
Ray of Hope is fundraising $3,530.80 to support Mohammad and his family during this challenging time. Your donation will help to provide the following:

A. Living Expenses (while Mohammad is seeking full-time employment): $600 per month for four months (November 2023 to February 2024). This financial assistance will help the family cover their essential expenses, including groceries, milk and diapers during this period of uncertainty.

B. Work Allowance (after Mohammad secures full-time employment): $200 per month for three months. Once Mohammad secures stable full-time employment, these funds will help him cover the costs associated with going to work. By removing the financial stress of work-related expenses, we hope to motivate and empower Mohammad to continue working, ensuring the family’s financial stability in the long run.

In September 2023, Mohammad, a 29-year-old father, lost his job after working as a full-time logistics staff since 2021. He was earning a monthly salary of $1,500 to support his family of 6. To supplement his family’s income, he took up additional ad-hoc employment, working three jobs per week on average. These daily cash jobs helped cover the family’s immediate needs.

Mohammad’s abrupt termination was due to his need to take numerous unplanned leaves to tend to his children when they were unwell. He had been unable to seek last minute caregiving arrangements and faced challenges in fulfilling his work responsibilities. The sudden loss of his full-time income, coupled with the stress and anxiety it brought, led to frequent arguments at home.

Mohammad and his wife, Siti, are parents to four children, aged 12, 8, 7, and 3, with Siti being four months pregnant. Siti works as a full-time cleaner, earning an average of $800 to $1,000 per month. However, she no longer has paid leave, and when she needed time off to care for their children, her salary was deducted. With little extended family support and insufficient financial security, the couple faces significant distress over meeting the needs of their four young children, not to mention the fifth that’s on the way. Mohammed is determined to seek full-time employment once more, to bring stability back to the household.
