Mdm Shima is the caregiver for her 5 school-going sons, living in a 2-room HDB rental flat.
In 2013, Mdm Shima met with an accident which has since left her with migraine attacks, Veritgo, and anxiety attacks. She is also unable to stand for long or walk very fast. Her follow-up for this has also been put on hold due to the Covid-19 situation. She is currently also on medication for a cyst in her lower abdomen.
She is currently unemployed and the job she had lined up in March 2020 was put on hold due to the Circuit Breaker. She was previously working in the F&B sector, but left as her husband was not helping to take care of the children. Her husband has been in and out of prison and Mdm Shima intends to file for divorce.
Mdm Shima’s SSO support of $720/month ended this month. She will only be able to reapply for it after the Circuit Breaker is over. She is receiving $240 a month as well as $160 in grocery vouchers from MUIS, both of which will continue until August 2020.
She has no other income at this time. She currently has arrears for her HDB rental, utilities, wifi, and town council fees to clear, as well as her ongoing living expenses.
Financial Assistance Breakdown
Ray of Hope would like to raise $2,400 for Mdm Shima and her family. $600 will be used to clear off her arrears with HDB ($120), her utilities ($340), wifi fees ($130) and town council fees ($10). In addition we would like to raise $300 per month for 6 months for her living expenses until she is able to support herself and settle in a job after the Circuit Breaker period.
*The funds to clear her arrears will be paid directly to the agency.
