A mother stands in the grocery aisle, holding a packet of festive cookies. She knows the excitement they would bring her children—the taste of Raya, the warmth of tradition. But with bills piling up, she sighs and puts them back.

No parent should have to choose between daily needs and celebrating Eid.

Hari Raya is a time of joy, reflection, and togetherness. It’s the excitement of donning new baju Raya, the aroma of rendang filling the home, and the heartfelt salam of loved ones gathering after a month of fasting. It’s a season of renewal, a season of giving, receiving, and celebrating the relationships that make us stronger.

But not every family has the same ease of preparation. Some are working extra hours, stretching every dollar, and planning carefully to make the most of this special time. This is where we come in. Not to give handouts, but to strengthen the kampung spirit that makes Raya meaningful.

This Raya, we can change this.

With $24026.60, we’re coming together to brighten Raya for 99 adults and 58 children—because that’s what a true kampung does.  We lift one another up, we celebrate together, and we make space for every home to be filled with warmth and light.

Your giving is more than generosity. It’s a reminder that in this community, everyone matters. Give today, and let’s keep the kampung spirit alive.

Other initiatives happening during Ramadhan:

Iftar Bento Deliveries:
While some families prepare for lavish iftar spreads during Ramadhan, others face a different reality — wondering if there will be enough to break their fast. The Iftar Bento Deliveries began in 2021, a small but meaningful effort to bring a warm meal and a sense of community to those who need it most.

On one Saturday each Ramadhan, volunteers set out with warm bento meals in hand, delivering more than just food. A knock on the door, a familiar face, a brief exchange. These small moments remind families that they are not alone. It’s not about grand gestures, but about showing up, even for just one evening, to say we’re here, and we care.

Iftar Project:
For many low-income families, Ramadhan can feel like a solitary experience, especially without a strong support network. Recognising this, the Iftar Project was created to bring people together. Since 2021, the Iftar Project has become more than just an initiative, it’s a tradition shaped by the generosity of current and previous Muslim clients. These families open their homes to welcome other members of the Ray of Hope community, creating a space where volunteers and hosts break fast together.

What started as a simple meal delivery has grown into something deeper: a shared tradition where doors open, conversations flow, and informal support networks form. Because at the heart of Ramadhan, and the Iftar Project, is a simple truth—community is built one meal, one conversation, and one act of kindness at a time.
